 Job Description:

As Assistant Wine Buyer, reporting to the General Manager, you will help handle the purchasing and merchandising of all the wine items related to our retail and online business. You assist to ensure that the products on our shelves and online are consistent with our company culture and customer service focus, while upholding our operating and merchandising standards. You will participate by helping our retail store employees deliver relevant products to drive sales and gross margin. 

Responsibilities:

-Participate in maintaining relationships with partners/vendors/suppliers.

-Contribute to analyze wine category, needs and trends according to Millesima process.

-Contribute to wine market, sales and new items analyze in order to optimize the purchase decision. 

-Help develop merchandising and promotional strategies to maximize profitability.

-Participate in the promotion of our wines and particularly Bordeaux

-Participate in handling the weekly reordering in order to make sure that the stock is optimal.

-Be a link between the French entity and the American subsidiary in order to homogenize the wine selection and process.

-Represent the company at different wine lunch, dinner or wholesaler tasting.

-Help form strong relationships with vendors to capitalize on assortment, promotional and margin opportunities.

-Contact vendors in order to check on availability, product specs, distribution, delivery deadlines.

-Participate in identifying and recommending new products and/or business opportunities.

-Elaborate with the general manager best buying practices and help develop action plans to meet the strong needs of a growing business.

-Keep up to date on trends and product knowledge via online research, various mediums, industry trend reports, training from vendors, competition, etc.

-Help perform data entry such as setting up new items, submitting cost and retail prices, etc.

-Take part in training and developing Team Members on wine knowledge, make sure they have all the information they need to sale the wine to the customer.
